Nirosta Steel, John Errol

An electronic concert featuring Nirosta Steel, a Scottish musician linked to the 1980s downtown New York scene, with John Errol, at Zebulon in Los Angeles.

Nirosta Steel is a Scottish musician born in 1957 and a member of the 1980s downtown New York scene. The project's work spans roughly forty years and includes re-workings and songs still in progress. Its songs are queer love songs that deal with night life, desire and past lovers, and the music draws on an anti-vibrato approach to singing and horn parts shared with Arthur Russell, the musician's friend and collaborator.

The compilation My Skyscraper, released in 2026, gathers material from that long span. Earlier releases include Cool Fire, a 1999 live recording, and the Foxy Pup EP, produced with Russell. The musician also took part in Arthur's Landing, a group formed to carry Russell's work forward. Tracks on the compilation include ENGLISH PARTY, a dance song first written for Madonna in the early 1980s, and YHEMA.

The concert at Zebulon is billed as Nirosta Steel with John Errol. Zebulon hosts concerts and shows in Los Angeles, and the evening suits listeners interested in electronic music and in the songwriting of Nirosta Steel.
