Rakim

Rakim brings classic hip-hop history to the stage at Tipitina's in New Orleans for a special concert performance.

Rakim emerged as half of the legendary hip-hop duo Eric B. & Rakim, which formed in New York during the mid-1980s. Widely regarded as one of the most influential and skilled lyricists in rap history, the artist revolutionized the genre with complex internal rhyme schemes, intricate wordplay, and a laid-back, jazz-influenced delivery that contrasted sharply with the high-energy shouting typical of early rap. Key releases from the duo include the landmark albums Paid in Full and Follow the Leader, featuring enduring tracks like I Know You Got Soul and Paid in Full.

Tipitina's hosts this concert in New Orleans. The historic music venue, located uptown, regularly presents touring rap artists, funk bands, and roots musicians in a dedicated performance space.
