Robert Glasper X Finale with Derrick Hodge & Chris Dave

A Robert Glasper concert at Blue Note Jazz Club, featuring Derrick Hodge and Chris Dave under the title Robert Glasper X Finale. The music spans R&B, soul, funk, gospel and reggae.

Robert Glasper is an American jazz pianist, composer and artistic director, born in Houston in 1978. Active since 2003 and signed to the Blue Note label, Glasper's work is rooted in jazz, and the project presented here, Robert Glasper X Finale, brings the pianist together with Derrick Hodge and Chris Dave.

The music is described as R&B, soul, funk, gospel and reggae, a range that extends the jazz base of Glasper's work toward groove-based and vocal-influenced styles. The title places the evening within Glasper's ongoing collaborations, with Hodge and Chris Dave named as the other artists on the bill.

Blue Note Jazz Club is a concert and performance venue in New York. The evening suits listeners who follow jazz-rooted music that moves into soul, funk and gospel, and who want to hear a pianist whose catalog bridges those traditions.
