Rowena Wise

Rowena Wise performs songs from the second album Bad Things Feel Good at Gold-Diggers in Los Angeles. The record centers on heartbreak, estrangement and mental health.

Rowena Wise's second album, Bad Things Feel Good, examines how painful change can be and what it means to be human and embodied. Love and selfhood appear here as a blend of brightness and shadow, and the usual codes around desire, duty and devotion stop working. Through frank, poetic lyrics and a raw, band-driven sound, the songs address heartbreak, estrangement and mental health.

The songs came out of a long stretch of touring and draw on the artist's own experiences and those of friends, including difficult relationships and mental health. Travel and the sense of displacement it brought gave perspective on the harder growing pains of adulthood: love that drifts off course, existential longing and moral vertigo. Intimacy in romantic, family and community forms, and the quiet legacies these relationships leave behind, run through the record.

Gold-Diggers hosts concerts and shows in Los Angeles. Listeners interested in candid songwriting about relationships, family and mental health will find these themes at the heart of the album.
