The Last Waltz Tribute

A tribute to The Band, the rock group whose 1976 farewell concert inspired Martin Scorsese's film The Last Waltz. This pop, rock and indie evening takes place at the George Van Dusen Theatre in Skokie.

The Last Waltz Tribute is devoted to the music of The Band, the rock group whose members included Robbie Robertson, Levon Helm, Rick Danko, Richard Manuel and Garth Hudson. Their catalog includes “The Weight” and “Up on Cripple Creek,” and their sound blended rock, country, gospel and rhythm and blues.

The Band's final concert took place in 1976 at Winterland in San Francisco. Martin Scorsese filmed it, and the resulting documentary, The Last Waltz, was released in 1978. This evening is a tribute, so the songs are performed by other musicians rather than by the original members of the group.

The show is held at the George Van Dusen Theatre at North Shore Center, a venue in Skokie that hosts concerts and shows. It suits listeners who know The Band's records or the 1978 film and want to hear that music performed live.
