The Lovin' Spoonful

The Lovin' Spoonful is an American pop, rock and indie band, presented in Las Vegas at The Showroom at the Golden Nugget. The group's catalog draws on 1960s folk rock.

The Lovin'Spoonful formed in New York in 1964. Its core members were singer, songwriter and harmonica player John Sebastian, guitarist Zal Yanovsky, bassist Steve Boone and drummer Joe Butler. Blending folk, jug band music and rock and roll, the band had a run of hits in 1965 and 1966, including "Do You Believe in Magic," "Daydream" and "Summer in the City," which reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. The original run of the group ended in 1968.

The band's sound rests on Sebastian's songwriting and the easygoing blend of acoustic and electric instruments that marked its singles. Its best-known songs remain the core of its reputation among listeners of 1960s rock.
