Why?

Why? is a pop, rock and indie act presenting a show at the Swedish American Hall in San Francisco. The band's music draws on indie rock and hip-hop-influenced song structures.

Why? is an American band formed in Oakland, California, in the late 1990s, built around the songwriter and vocalist Yoni Wolf. The group emerged from the Bay Area independent scene and was associated with the Anticon label, whose roster was closely tied to underground hip-hop. Their records blend that background with indie rock and pop melodies, and their lyrics are often wordy and introspective. Fans of alternative and independent music, particularly listeners who follow the Anticon circle, will find the project's lineage in its arrangements and rhythmic approach.

The Swedish American Hall is a San Francisco venue that hosts concerts and shows. For a listener deciding whether to attend, the appeal lies in seeing a long-running project from the Bay Area's independent music scene performing in its home city, with a set built from the band's catalog.
