About — The artist
Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, often abbreviated CYHSY, is an American indie rock band from New York. It comprises Alec Ounsworth, a songwriter and composer from Philadelphia, Lee Sargent, Robbie Guertin, Tyler Sargent, and Sean Greenhalgh, all from the Brooklyn borough of New York. Influences cited include Tom Waits, Modest Mouse, and Talking Heads, but the difference lies in the singer Alec Ounsworth's nasal and catchy voice. Singer Alec Ounsworth has a parallel project (Flashy Python and the Body Snatchers). He is the cousin of one of the members of the band The Ghost Parade.
