Avenue Q

Avenue Q is a musical that has returned to the West End at the Shaftesbury Theatre for a limited season this spring. It follows a young graduate and his colourful neighbours in a shabby New York apartment block.

The production is a revival of Avenue Q, a musical that has won three Tony Awards. The story begins when Princeton, recently out of college and unsure of his direction, moves into a run-down apartment on Avenue Q in New York. There he meets a group of neighbours, and together they deal with everyday concerns such as work, romance and money.

The material describes the show as irreverent and playful, built around lively songs and characters who are puppets. This staging is directed by Jason Moore, who also directed the original Broadway production, and the puppet design is by Rick Lyon, who designed the original puppets.

The show is presented at the Shaftesbury Theatre, which hosts concerts and shows in London. It is aimed at audiences who enjoy comic musicals, and the season is limited in length.
