Caitlin Cook: The Writing on the Stall

Caitlin Cook performs The Writing on the Stall, a stand-up and comedy show built around songs and a bathroom-graffiti concept, presented at The Bill Murray in London.

The show takes its premise from graffiti on the walls of a bathroom stall: the messages scrawled there become the lyrics of Caitlin Cook's original songs and mark the stages of the journey the performer leads the audience through. The material is confessional and often crude, and it touches on shared humanity and what people owe one another.

The production is staged as a comedy show with musical numbers, and the material is described as irreverent and poignant as well as openly vulgar. The programme's listed content includes props and gags such as a slingshot, a squirting milk prop and a costume element with spurs, so audiences should expect adult humour throughout.

The show has previously played Off-Broadway, on national tours and at the Edinburgh Fringe, and reviews from those runs praise its writing, songs and comic delivery. The Bill Murray is a London venue that hosts concerts and shows.
