Common Ground: Studio Njoku - Conjuring

An improvised session led by British-Nigerian artist Tony Njoku under the name Conjuring, opening a new live series at The Standard in London. The evening brings together four musicians from the alternative scene.

Conjuring is the project of British-Nigerian artist Tony Njoku, built on improvised musical dialogue in which the players respond to one another around shared sonic motifs. The approach puts community and spiritual expression at its centre, and the project is part of The Standard's new Common Ground live series. The music sits within pop, rock and indie.

This first edition gathers Akihide Monna of the Japanese band Bo Ningen, the artist Theadora, the singer and songwriter Trace Polly, and the composer and violinist Raven Bush, who is associated with Spitfire Audio. Because the performance is improvised, its shape develops during the evening through the exchanges between these musicians.
