Feeling Afraid As If Something Terrible Is Going To Happen

A one-person stand-up comedy show by Marcelo Dos Santos, starring Steven Webb, about a comedian who meets a potential partner and begins to sabotage the relationship. It is staged at The Other Palace in London.

The show follows a thirty-six-year-old comedian who, after years of being single, finally meets someone he hopes will be right for him, and then does almost everything wrong. Through his own monologue, the piece asks whether the partner is quite what he seems and how far the performer will go in pursuit of a laugh, exploring self-awareness, self-sabotage and the question of whether love is worth the cost of a good punchline.

Steven Webb takes the lead in this production, which Marcelo Dos Santos wrote. The material is described as a darkly comic study of vulnerability, intimacy, ego and truth, and it is presented as a return to London after a run in Australia and a US premiere. The production is staged at The Other Palace, a London venue that hosts concerts and shows.

The piece is aimed at audiences who enjoy confessional, character-led comedy with a sharp, sometimes uncomfortable edge. It is a stand-up-based show rather than a traditional play, so the emphasis rests on the performer's direct address to the audience and on the shifts between humour and candour.
