An Evening with Black Flag

Black Flag performs live at Manchester Academy 3, bringing their influential American hardcore punk sound to the city.

Black Flag formed in Hermosa Beach, California, in 1976, initially under the name Panic, before establishing themselves as pioneers of the hardcore punk movement. Guitarist and primary songwriter Greg Ginn remains the sole constant member through numerous line-up changes over the decades. Their seminal 1981 debut album Damaged helped define the aggressive, fast-paced aesthetic of early American punk, while later releases like My War incorporated slower, sludgy tempos that heavily influenced the development of grunge and sludge metal. Their catalogue also includes classic tracks such as Nervous Breakdown and Six Pack.

On this visit to Manchester, the group performs at Manchester Academy 3, a venue that hosts concerts and shows in Manchester. This event suits followers of pioneering punk rock and heavy guitar music interested in hearing foundational tracks performed live by the enduring outfit.
