Ebony Scrooge

Ebony Scrooge is a Christmas musical staged at Sadler's Wells East in London, a family show that reworks Dickens' story around a fashion executive. It mixes hip hop, comedy and physical theatre.

The production takes its starting point from Dickens'familiar tale, transposed to the world of a powerful fashion business. Its central figure, Ebony, runs a successful fashion empire and has cancelled Christmas in favour of a major fashion show. Three mystical visitors accompany the character on a journey that leads her to rediscover her Caribbean roots, and the story asks whether she can find what happiness really means.

The show is described as blending hip hop, comedy and physical theatre, so the music and movement are central to how the story is told. The material presents it as a holiday piece pitched at the whole family, with its seasonal theme running throughout.

Sadler's Wells East is the London venue hosting the production. The material gives no further detail about the cast or the running order, so the description here is limited to the story and the styles on offer.
