Irvine Welsh's Porno

Irvine Welsh's Porno is a comedy stage adaptation that returns to London's West End after a UK tour. It follows the characters from Trainspotting two decades on, at the Leicester Square Theatre.

The show picks up the story of Renton, Spud, Begbie and Sickboy, set twenty years after Trainspotting, and asks what has become of each of them. Presented as a comedy, it is a stage adaptation of Irvine Welsh's Porno rather than a new work, and its humour is dark and direct.

Expect adult material throughout. The production contains swearing, language of a sexual nature, depictions of drug abuse and dark humour, and the age recommendation is for those aged 13 and over only in the sense that younger audiences are not suited to it. Having toured the UK, the production now comes to London's West End for a special performance. A press quotation included in the source praises Chris Gavin's portrayal of Begbie as a worthy successor to Robert Carlyle, who played the role on screen.

The Leicester Square Theatre is the London venue for this show, one of several places in the capital that stage shows across a range of genres. The production suits those already familiar with Trainspotting who want to see how its characters have changed, as well as theatre-goers who enjoy sharp, profane comedy.
