Theatre Royal Drury Lane Tour

A guided theatre tour of Theatre Royal Drury Lane in London, led by professional actors who present the history of the building through characters from different eras.

The tour takes visitors behind the scenes of Theatre Royal Drury Lane, one of the oldest and largest theatres in London, and is presented as a way of seeing a part of the building usually reserved for performers and staff. The material describes the theatre as the birthplace of the musical and of modern pantomime, and the tour touches on moving scenery, rehearsals and naturalistic acting.

According to the listing, the walk lasts about one hour and fifteen minutes. Along the way, actors playing characters from a range of periods introduce the history of the theatre, which has been renovated. The format is a guided visit rather than a performance on stage, with the performers leading the group through the building.

The tour suits anyone curious about theatre making and the history of a long-established London venue. It is led by professional actors, and the listing presents it as a different kind of theatre visit from a standard tour of the building.
