Overview
Kings of Convenience is a Norwegian indie folk duo from Bergen, formed in 1999 by Erlend Øye and Eirik Glambek Bøe. Their debut album, Quiet Is the New Loud, appeared in 2001, followed by Riot on an Empty Street in 2004 and Declaration of Dependence in 2009. Their songs are built on acoustic guitars and close vocal harmonies, a sparse style that set them apart from the louder bands of their time.
The group has been associated with a small circle of Scandinavian indie artists, and Erlend Øye has also worked as a DJ and a solo performer. The duo's catalogue suits listeners who enjoy quiet, melodic songwriting and intimate arrangements.
The Royal Albert Hall, on Kensington Gore, hosts concerts and shows in London, and this evening places the duo's repertoire in that building.
