The Smartest Giant in Town

A children's musical adaptation of Julia Donaldson's story about George, a giant who gets a smart new outfit and then gives it away to animals in need. It is staged at St Martin's Theatre in London.

The story follows George, a giant who longs to stop being the scruffiest in town. After a visit to a fancy clothes shop he acquires a smart outfit: trousers, a shirt, a striped tie and shiny shoes. His new look does not last long, because he meets some animals who urgently need his help, and his clothes are part of the request.

The production comes from the Little Angel Theatre, which has earlier credits including A Sguash and a Squeeze and Charlie Cook's Favourite Book, and from the West End producers Fierylight, whose previous work includes Peppa Pig, Bing, Octonauts and The BFG. The musical was nominated for an Olivier Award. The material describes it as using puppets, songs and characters created by Julia Donaldson, with the central theme of friendship and helping others.

The show is a family piece built around a picture-book story, and it is presented at St Martin's Theatre, a London venue that hosts concerts and shows.
