About — The artist
Lip Critic is an electropunk group from Brooklyn, New York. The band is currently signed to Partisan Records.
The group features two drummers, alongside samplers and vocals.
The members began playing together in 2018. They chose the name "Lip Critic" because it sounded like "Dadaist nonsense". They released two EPs, Kill Lip Critic in 2019 and Lip Critic II in 2020. In 2024, they released their first album, Hex Dealer, which was acclaimed by critics.
The band began preparing a successor, but abandoned the project after its exchanges with a fan who had impersonated Bret Kaser and believed the band was sending him secret messages. They drew inspiration from this for their second album, Theft World, released in 2026. To promote it, they played a series of concerts in unconventional venues, such as a laundromat, a basement and a boxing ring.
