45-Minute Beginner Surf Class for 1-Person with Board/Wetsuit Included

A 45-minute beginner surf class held on Rockaway Beach in Queens, led by certified instructors, for people trying surfing for the first time. The board and wetsuit are provided.

This is a short introductory surf class for people who have never tried the sport. The session opens with a brief lesson on the sand covering ocean safety and the basics of surfing, then moves into the water for the rest of the time. Instruction comes from certified instructors, and the group is kept small, with between three and ten participants, so each person gets more individual attention.

A surfboard and wetsuit are provided, so there is no equipment to bring. Participants should be able to carry a surfboard of about ten pounds on their own, since the board has to be carried from the sand to the water. The class is aimed at beginners and suits anyone curious about learning to catch a first wave.

The activity takes place at Rockaway Beach, at the 108-10 Rockaway Beach Drive address in Queens, where surfing happens on the sand near Beach 108th Street. Meeting points are marked by purple flags on the beach.
