A Christmas Brass Spectacular: The Capitol Bones All-Brass Big Band

A holiday jazz concert by the Capitol Bones, an all-brass big band, at the Birchmere in Alexandria, Virginia, built around seasonal music for a full horn ensemble.

A Christmas Brass Spectacular brings the Capitol Bones, an all-brass big band, to the Birchmere stage in Alexandria. The program is jazz, with a holiday theme built around the sound of a full horn ensemble.

Big band jazz centers on arrangements for large ensembles, where brass and reed sections share melody and harmony and horns often take the lead. In an all-brass format, that tradition rests entirely on the brass sections, giving familiar seasonal material a bright, full-bodied sound.

The Birchmere is a concert and show venue in Alexandria, Virginia, across the Potomac from Washington, D.C. The evening suits listeners who enjoy seasonal jazz and large horn ensembles, and holiday audiences looking for a concert outing during the holiday season.
