Overview
A holiday jazz piano concert by David Benoit, a Grammy Award-nominated pianist and KJAZZ host, at Catalina Jazz Club in Hollywood, built around A Charlie Brown Christmas.
David Benoit is an American jazz and jazz-funk pianist, composer and producer, born in Bakersfield in 1953. Active since 1976, the artist released the debut album Heavier Than Yesterday in 1977 and has recorded for GRP Records. Benoit is a Grammy Award-nominated pianist and the host of a program on KJAZZ.
The evening takes its title from A Charlie Brown Christmas, the Peanuts holiday television special, so the holiday repertoire is central to the program. The performance is a solo piano showcase of the kind Benoit has built a career on, with a focus on jazz arrangements rather than the rock or funk side of the catalog.
Catalina Jazz Club hosts concerts and shows in Hollywood. The night suits listeners who follow jazz piano and seasonal music, and fans of Benoit's recordings who want to hear the pianist in a club setting during the holiday season.
