Kenny Garrett

Kenny Garrett is an American jazz saxophonist born in 1960 in Detroit and active since 1978. The music blends jazz fusion and jazz, and Garrett is signed to Atlantic Records. The musician's career includes earlier stints with Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers and with Miles Davis, placing Garrett among the saxophonists who came up through the hard-bop and fusion lineages of the 1980s.

The concert is a jazz evening for listeners who follow saxophone-led music that moves between fusion's electric textures and acoustic jazz forms. Garrett's recordings on Atlantic Records are the most direct way to hear that blend before a live performance.

Blue Note Los Angeles hosts concerts and shows in Los Angeles, and this date places the saxophonist's music in that venue's program for jazz audiences in the city.
