Infinite 80s: Play The Cure

A tribute evening devoted to the music of The Cure, the English rock band, presented at Space in Evanston. Infinite 80s is a tribute act, not the original group.

Infinite 80s: Play The Cure is a tribute to The Cure, the English rock band formed in Crawley, West Sussex, in 1976 and led by Robert Smith. The original group is not performing. Its catalog moves through post-punk, gothic rock and new wave, and songs such as "Boys Don't Cry," "Just Like Heaven," "Lovesong" and "Friday I'm in Love" rank among its most widely heard recordings. The show's genre, pop, rock and indie, places the evening within the alternative rock that grew out of that period.

Space, the venue, hosts concerts and shows in Evanston, a suburb on Chicago's northern edge. The evening suits listeners who follow The Cure's songbook and the guitar-driven sound of 1980s alternative rock, whether they knew the band's records closely or are discovering them through a tribute.
