Davis Plays Davis: A Tribute to Miles Davis by Orbert Davis

A jazz program in Evanston, Davis Plays Davis is a tribute to Miles Davis, performed by Orbert Davis. It is presented at Space, a venue for concerts and shows in Evanston.

Davis Plays Davis is a jazz tribute to Miles Davis, the American trumpeter and bandleader whose records include Kind of Blue (1959) and Bitches Brew (1970). The music is performed by Orbert Davis, who appears in this tribute as the performing artist; Miles Davis is not on stage. The title places the work of Miles Davis at the center of the evening, with the repertoire built around his trumpet tradition and his development of cool, modal and later electric jazz.

Space hosts concerts and shows in Evanston, and this tribute is one of its jazz programs. The evening suits listeners who want to hear the music of Miles Davis interpreted by a living jazz musician, and those who follow the trumpet lineage that runs through the records of Miles Davis and the musicians who worked with him.
