MJ

MJ is a Broadway musical built around the songs of Michael Jackson, staged at the Neil Simon Theatre in New York. It is a stage production about the music and career of the American singer, songwriter and dancer.

MJ is a stage musical built around the catalog of Michael Jackson, the American singer, songwriter and dancer who rose to fame with the Jackson 5 in the 1960s and 1970s before launching a solo career. The book is by Lynn Nottage, and Christopher Wheeldon directs and choreographs the production. The songs are performed by the cast on stage, and Jackson himself does not appear as a performer in the show.

His solo recordings, including songs from the album Thriller, form the core of the score, and the dance numbers draw on the movement style associated with his music. The book gives the songs a dramatic frame that follows his career, so the production reaches listeners who know his records as well as theatergoers who come for musical storytelling.

The show plays at the Neil Simon Theatre, a Broadway house that hosts musicals, plays and concerts in New York. It suits anyone interested in Jackson's music and in large-scale dance-driven musical theater.
