Overview
A live laptop performance by ambient composer William Basinski of The Disintegration Loops, with the electronic trio Purelink opening, staged at Grace Cathedral in San Francisco.
William Basinski is an American composer working in ambient music. Born in Houston in 1958, Basinski has been active since 1978 and released the album Watermusic in 2001 on Raster-Noton. Their best-known work, The Disintegration Loops, is a four-disc set assembled from decaying tape recordings, and Pitchfork named it among the top 50 albums of 2004.
Purelink is an electronic trio formed in 2020 by Millia, kindtree and Concave Reflection. Their music blends bass music, dub and chillout-leaning IDM, and their 2023 album Signs was released on the Peak Oil imprint.
This event is presented as part of the Age of Reflections series. Basinski performs The Disintegration Loops live on laptop, and Purelink opens the evening. The performance takes place in Grace Cathedral, a venue that hosts exhibitions and cultural events in San Francisco, with a projection-mapped light show applied to the building's architecture.
