The Spookeasy Halloween Neighborhood Block Party

The Spookeasy Halloween Neighborhood Block Party brings DJ ABC to San Francisco for a Halloween night built around R&B, soul, funk, gospel and reggae. Together these styles span several Black American and Caribbean music traditions, from the soul and funk of the 1960s and 1970s to the gospel and reggae roots that run through the rest of the program.

DJ ABC's music covers all five genres named for the event, so a set can move from soul and R&B grooves to funk, gospel and reggae selections. The block party format suits neighbors and dance-floor listeners who want a shared Halloween celebration, with music at its center.

Because the program draws on several genres at once, the evening can appeal to fans of each one. The event takes place in San Francisco, and its neighborhood setting shapes the gathering around the music rather than a formal concert hall.
