Bttrfly Quintet

A Los Angeles concert by Bttrfly Quintet, an act whose music draws on R&B, soul, funk, gospel and reggae, presented at Blue Note Los Angeles.

Bttrfly Quintet performs music rooted in R&B, soul, funk, gospel and reggae. These styles share lineage in Black American and Caribbean music: soul and gospel supply vocal and harmonic traditions, funk supplies rhythmic drive, and reggae adds offbeat guitar and bass patterns. Rhythm and blues, one of the genres in the mix, grew out of the same African American music that gave rise to funk and gospel. The project's sound sits where these genres meet.

The concert takes place at Blue Note Los Angeles, a venue that hosts concerts and shows in the city. It suits listeners drawn to groove-based soul and funk, as well as to reggae and gospel influences.
