Overview
An evening at Alex's Bar in Long Beach built around emo songs, combining the guitar-driven emo style with karaoke-style singalongs under the Emo Night Karaoke name.
Emo Night Karaoke- they play takes its name from two ideas: emo, the guitar-driven rock style that grew out of American hardcore punk in the 1980s, and karaoke, the format in which people sing over recorded backing tracks. The name points to an evening built around emo songs that the audience sings along to.
Alex's Bar, in Long Beach, hosts concerts and shows, and this event is part of that programming. It suits listeners who know the emo repertoire and want to sing along rather than only listen, as well as anyone curious about how an emo songbook works in a karaoke setting.
