Hiroshima is a band from Los Angeles, formed in 1973 by Dan Kuramoto and Kimiko Kasai. Its sound draws on jazz, funk and pop, with Japanese musical elements woven into the arrangements. The album Odori, released in 1979, is among the records most associated with the band, and its title is a Japanese word for a traditional dance.

The concert takes place at the Birchmere, a venue in Alexandria that hosts concerts and shows. Listeners who follow jazz-influenced pop and Japanese-tinged instrumental music will find the group's work central to the evening, and the catalogue spans decades of recording.

For listeners new to the group, the band's studio albums offer a starting point before the concert.
