Huey and the News Tribute

A tribute evening devoted to the songs of Huey Lewis and the News, the San Francisco pop rock band, staged at North Theatre in Skokie. The performers are a tribute act, not the original group.

Huey Lewis and the News formed in San Francisco in 1979 and built its sound on pop, rock and rhythm and blues. Its best-known records include Sports (1983), which produced "Hip to Be Square" and "I Want a New Drug," and the song "The Power of Love," which gained wide exposure through the 1985 film Back to the Future. The band's catalog of radio-friendly hits is the core of its music.

Huey and the News Tribute is a separate act that performs the band's songs. It is a homage to Huey Lewis and the News, not the original artist, so the evening centers on the group's repertoire rather than on its founding members.

North Theatre at North Shore Center for the Performing Arts hosts concerts and shows in Skokie. The evening suits listeners who know the band's 1980s pop and rock hits and want to hear them performed live.
