It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown

A jazz program at Lemon named after It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown, the 1966 animated television special based on Charles M. Schulz's Peanuts comic strip.

It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown is the 1966 animated television special based on Charles M. Schulz's Peanuts comic strip, which ran in newspapers from 1950 to 2000. Its jazz score was composed by Vince Guaraldi, whose trio recorded the soundtrack, and whose piano-led style became closely tied to the Peanuts television specials.

The title places this evening's jazz program in the world of that special, so the music connects directly to the animated film and its characters for audiences familiar with the Peanuts television specials.

Lemon hosts concerts and shows in Chicago. The evening suits Peanuts fans who know the Guaraldi score and jazz listeners interested in music tied to a classic American animated special.
