John Violinist

John Violinist performs at the Birchmere in Alexandria, in a program that draws on R&B, soul, funk, gospel and reggae.

John Violinist works across R&B, soul, funk, gospel and reggae, five styles connected by Black American and Caribbean popular music. Gospel and soul share a vocal and harmonic tradition, while funk and reggae are built on rhythm and bass-driven grooves, so the genres meet in a sound centered on feel and groove. Listeners who follow any of these styles will recognize familiar ground, whether in the vocal lines or the rhythm sections.

The concert takes place at the Birchmere, a venue in Alexandria that hosts concerts and shows. It suits anyone interested in hearing soul, R&B, funk, gospel and reggae in one evening.
