Journey

Journey is an American rock band formed in San Francisco in 1973 and signed to Columbia Records. This concert brings the group to Chase Center San Francisco.

Journey plays hard rock, arena rock and progressive rock, and the band grew out of San Francisco's early-1970s scene. Guitarist Neal Schon and keyboardist Gregg Rolie had previously played together in Santana, and their work in Journey moved toward more melodic, radio-oriented songwriting. Steve Perry became the band's lead vocalist, and Jonathan Cain joined on keyboards and songwriting, shaping the group's late-1970s and 1980s sound.

The band's best-known records are Escape (1981), which includes "Don't Stop Believin'" and "Open Arms," and Frontiers (1983), which includes "Separate Ways (Worlds Apart)." Their catalog remains the core of most live sets associated with the band's name, and listeners who know these anthems from radio will recognize much of the material.

Chase Center is a San Francisco venue that hosts exhibitions and cultural events, as well as concerts. The show suits fans of arena rock and of the melodic hard rock that Journey helped define, as well as listeners who follow the band's long run since its San Francisco beginnings.
