L'Rain

L'Rain, the project of multi-instrumentalist Taja Cheek, shares this Los Angeles bill at 2220 Arts + Archives with the singer, rapper and producer zayALLCAPS, who is based in Los Angeles.

L'Rain is the musical project of Taja Cheek, a multi-instrumentalist, composer, producer and curator whose work also reaches into art, film, fashion and cultural discourse. Cheek is currently artistic director of Performance Space NY, and the project is preparing the release of its fourth album, fata morgana.

zayALLCAPS is a singer, rapper and producer from Los Angeles by way of Sacramento, releasing music on the indie label autotuneKaraoke. The third album, art Pop * pop Art, earned several year-end honors, and its lead single, "MTV's Pimp My Ride," received Best New Track from Pitchfork and drew public endorsements from Eem Triplin and Michael Uzowuru. The fourth album, Uncle, departs from the brightness of its predecessor with a 40-minute experimental slow burn that continues the act's habit of changing direction with each release.

2220 Arts + Archives is a concert and performance venue in Los Angeles. The bill pairs L'Rain's multidisciplinary work with zayALLCAPS's output as a singer, rapper and producer.
