Marty Stuart & His Fabulous Superlatives

Marty Stuart & His Fabulous Superlatives is a concert in Skokie that brings together the country musician Marty Stuart and the band billed alongside them. The music spans blues, country and folk.

Marty Stuart began in bluegrass: as a teenager, Stuart played mandolin with Lester Flatt's band in Nashville. Stuart later joined Johnny Cash's band, a long association that shaped a career with its roots in traditional country. Solo records such as Hillbilly Rock (1989) bring rockabilly and classic country into the same frame, which is why the set list of a Stuart show tends to move across several styles.

The billing pairs Marty Stuart with His Fabulous Superlatives, and the project's catalog covers blues, country and folk. Listeners who follow Nashville's traditional side, or who have followed Stuart's work since the Cash years, will find the material rooted in that lineage.

The show takes place at the George Van Dusen Theatre at North Shore Center, a venue in Skokie that hosts concerts and shows. The night suits anyone interested in country and roots music who wants to hear a musician with direct ties to Flatt and Cash performing live.
