Medea

Medea is an opera drawing on the myth of Medea, the sorceress of Colchis, presented at the Metropolitan Opera House in New York. It is one of several shows on the venue's program.

Medea is an opera built on the myth of Medea, the sorceress of Colchis whose passion for Jason ends in betrayal and revenge. The myth has been retold across centuries in drama and music. As an opera, the story is carried by sung performance rather than spoken dialogue, so the emotional arc unfolds through the voices and the staging.

Audiences drawn to tragedy and to the classical operatic repertoire will find a direct subject: a single story of abandonment told through its central figure. The production is presented at the Metropolitan Opera House, a New York venue that hosts music and stage shows.
