Preservation Hall Jazz Band Creole Xmas

A holiday jazz program by the Preservation Hall Jazz Band, the New Orleans ensemble, presented at Garcia's Chicago. It is a concert in the traditional New Orleans jazz style.

Preservation Hall Jazz Band was founded in 1961 in New Orleans by Allan Jaffe and Larry Borenstein, and takes its name from the Preservation Hall venue in the French Quarter. The band plays traditional New Orleans jazz, a style rooted in brass band music, blues and ragtime, and has been active for more than six decades.

This show, Preservation Hall Jazz Band Creole Xmas, is a holiday program from the band. It draws its title from the Creole Christmas tradition of New Orleans, and gives the ensemble's seasonal repertoire a central place on stage.

Garcia's Chicago is a Chicago venue that hosts concerts and shows, so this program suits listeners who want to hear a long-established New Orleans jazz ensemble in a live setting during the holiday season.
