A blues, country and folk concert at Kingston Mines - Chicago Blues Center in Chicago, a venue that hosts concerts and shows.

The name of the venue points to a focus on the blues, one of the three genres on this bill. Blues, country and folk share roots in American vernacular song. Blues supplies the rhythmic and harmonic foundation, country adds narrative songwriting in ballad and dance forms, and folk puts the emphasis on acoustic storytelling.

Listeners drawn to roots music will find a direct line between these styles, which developed in overlapping communities across the South and Midwest. The evening suits anyone following Chicago's blues venues and the wider tradition of American acoustic music.
