The 8-Bit Big Band

A jazz concert by The 8-Bit Big Band, an ensemble that arranges video game music for big band, presented at The Wiltern in Los Angeles.

The 8-Bit Big Band is a jazz act that builds big band arrangements from video game music, carrying the themes of console and arcade soundtracks into a swing-style large ensemble. The jazz side of the project lies in its arrangements, which give familiar game melodies the harmonic and rhythmic language of big band writing. Listeners who know the original scores will hear their themes reworked in this format, while jazz audiences get large-ensemble arrangements built on material from outside the traditional standards repertoire.

The Wiltern is a venue in Los Angeles that hosts concerts and shows, and this performance is part of that programming. The night suits people who follow big band jazz, people who enjoy video game music, and anyone curious about how game melodies translate into ensemble form.
