Overview

The Kevin Fort Trio is a jazz group performing as a three-piece ensemble. The trio format has been a core part of jazz since the bebop era, when small groups allowed players to trade solos and develop improvisation through close interplay.

Fitzgeralds Sidebar hosts concerts and shows in Berwyn, a suburb west of Chicago. The evening suits listeners who follow small-group jazz, where each player's solos and responses shape the performance.

Small-group jazz typically combines standards and original compositions, with each musician taking turns to improvise over shared harmonic structures. Jazz trios remain a common setting for both standards and newer material.
