Overview
A concert by The Residents, the experimental act from San Francisco, presented as Eskimo Live at the Ricardo Montalban Theatre in Hollywood. The show is built around the group's catalog of pop, rock and indie music.
The Residents are an experimental act formed in San Francisco in 1972. The members have long performed with their identities concealed behind eyeball masks, a practice that has been central to the group's public image. Their music combines pop, rock and indie with an avant-garde approach, and their recordings have appeared across several decades.
The title Eskimo Live refers to Eskimo, the group's 1979 album, one of the best-known records in its catalog. The production is a live presentation of this music in concert.
The Ricardo Montalban Theatre, in Hollywood, hosts concerts and shows, so this evening suits listeners interested in experimental pop and rock staged in a theater setting. It is a practical fit for anyone who wants to hear the band's work performed live rather than on record.
