The String Queens

A concert by The String Queens, whose music draws on R&B, soul, funk, gospel and reggae, at the Birchmere in Alexandria, Virginia.

The String Queens work across R&B, soul, funk, gospel and reggae, styles that share an emphasis on groove, sung melody and vocal harmony. R&B, soul and funk grew out of African American music, gospel comes from the Black church tradition, and reggae originated in Jamaica, so the show brings together several strands of Black music.

The concert takes place at the Birchmere, which hosts concerts and shows in Alexandria, Virginia. Alexandria sits across the Potomac River from Washington, D.C. The evening suits listeners who follow more than one of these styles and want to hear them in one place.
