Why? is an American band formed in Oakland, California, in 1997 around Yoni Wolf, who has led the project since its beginning. The group grew out of the Anticon scene, the Bay Area label and collective associated with independent hip-hop, and its 2004 album Eskimo Snow is one of the band's best-known records. Across its catalog, the songs combine indie rock arrangements, pop melodies and rap-inflected vocals.

The Masonic Lodge at Hollywood Forever is a Los Angeles venue that hosts concerts and shows, so this date brings the band's indie pop and rock repertoire to a Hollywood setting. The evening suits listeners who follow indie rock and pop songwriting with hip-hop influences.
