Women of Western Swing

A Los Angeles jazz concert by Women of Western Swing at The Paramount, centered on the Western swing tradition and its blend of jazz and country music.

Western swing is a dance-oriented style that fuses big-band jazz, blues and country music, taking shape in Texas and Oklahoma in the 1930s, with Bob Wills and His Texas Playboys as its best-documented early ensemble. Women of Western Swing takes this tradition as its frame, and the project is rooted in jazz, with the performers presenting the style in concert.

The night suits listeners drawn to swing-era jazz and its country-tinged offshoots, as well as those following the Western swing tradition in live performance.

The Paramount hosts concerts and shows in Los Angeles, and this program brings the act to that stage on this visit to the city.
