David Bowie: You’re Not Alone

A projection-based show at Lightroom in London, assembled from the David Bowie Archive in New York, with archive films, interviews, photographs and handwritten material. It is presented as a look at Bowie's thinking.

David Bowie: You're Not Alone draws on the David Bowie Archive in New York, bringing together performance footage, interviews and material not seen before, spanning the period that takes in Space Oddity, Diamond Dogs and "Heroes". The narration uses only Bowie's own voice, built from hundreds of interviews covering five decades of work.

The projection combines rare film, photographs, drawings, lyrics, personal notes and sketches, arranged in thematic chapters within a continuous loop. The subjects include theatricality, spirituality, songwriting and the ways creativity can change people. At Lightroom, the walls are fully projected to a height of 11 metres, and the open floor serves as the viewing space.

Lightroom hosts concerts and shows in London. The presentation suits those who already know Bowie's music and those encountering it for the first time, as it follows his views on the subjects most important to him.
