Overview
A stand-up comedy show led by ventriloquist Nina Conti, with Bridget Christie, Elis James, Julia Masli and John Tothill, presented at the Hackney Empire in London.
At The Empire With Nina Conti is a stand-up comedy show headlined by Nina Conti, a British comedian and ventriloquist who performs alongside her puppet Monkey. Conti's work joins comic performance with ventriloquism, and the show is built around that combination on stage.
The bill also features Bridget Christie, a BAFTA nominee for the Channel 4 series The Change; Elis James, a podcaster who works on Radio 5; Julia Masli, a clown and nominee for the Edinburgh Best Comedy Show and Sky Arts Best Comedy Award; and John Tothill, whose television credits include Cats Does Countdown and Have I Got News For You. Each adds a different comic voice to the programme, from clowning to panel-style comedy.
The show takes place at the Hackney Empire, a London venue that hosts concerts and shows. It suits audiences who follow British comedy on television, radio and podcasts, and those interested in ventriloquism as a live art form.
