Muireann Bradley is an Irish musician from County Donegal who sings and plays guitar, drawing on rural blues and ragtime. Bradley took up the guitar at the age of nine, inspired by a father who loved the blues, and learned largely by ear, studying the recordings of Blind Blake, Mississippi John Hurt and Memphis Minnie. The debut album, I Kept These Old Blues, was released in 2023.
The fingerpicking follows the approach of the original 1920s to 1940s artists. The more recent Blackwood Pew EP marks a move into songwriting, pairing original compositions with fresh readings of the music that shaped Bradley's playing, including blues, ragtime, country and Irish traditional music.
