Muireann Bradley is an Irish musician from County Donegal who sings and plays rural blues and ragtime on guitar. Bradley's playing follows the fingerpicking style of the original artists of the 1920s to 1940s, a technique in which the guitarist plucks the strings with the fingers rather than a plectrum, so that bass lines and melody run together. The debut album, I Kept These Old Blues, released in 2023, is the starting point for anyone wanting to hear this repertoire on record.

Rural blues and ragtime emerged in the United States in the early twentieth century, and their guitar styles, with alternating bass and syncopated melody, have shaped many later acoustic players. For listeners drawn to acoustic blues and ragtime, the concert offers a direct way into that tradition, with Bradley singing and playing guitar on stage.

The Deaf Institute hosts concerts and shows in Manchester, and this date is part of that programme.
